1) On Best Body Bootcamp. I think it's probably pretty obvious by now that I am having a love affair with Tina's Best Body Bootcamp. And maybe with Tina herself. The first week of this round is off to a great start so far. I have completed Workout A (lower body circuit) and Workout B (upper body circuit) plus one of the suggested cardio workouts on the treadmill, along with a three mile run this morning. I am feeling strong and successful this morning--is there any better feeling in the world than that?
Aside from the kick-butt workouts, I love love love the support (and the accountability) that I find in the Facebook group for BBB members. There are some seriously inspirational ladies there--and I am loving seeing two people I know in "real life" in the group this time around, too!
I also find that having weekly goals for myself is a major plus with BBB--even though I am not always successful. I am really struggling with the goal of shutting down my technology by 9:30 p.m. at night--so far, I've only accomplished that one out of the three nights this week. I decided that for Friday and Saturday, I'm giving myself until 10:00 p.m. to turn off the technology. Hoping to be successful with this goal for the rest of the week so I can get an entry into the weekly prize drawing! My other goal for the week was stretching daily, and I am doing well with that--and loving it!
2) On Advocare's 10 Day Cleanse. I am three days into the Advocare 10 Day Cleanse and I am absolutely loving it so far. I know Adam is really feeling great, too, though he'd be less willing to admit it (always the skeptic, that husband of mine). The first three days of the cleanse have consisted of taking a (pretty nasty) fiber drink each morning, drinking a Spark energy drink in place of my morning coffee, taking a Catalyst amino acid supplement (to support muscle tone/enhance strength and energy) during the day, taking OmegaPlex (blend of Omega-3 fatty acids for overall health) with dinner, and finally capping off the day with Herbal Cleanse (to eliminate waste and and prepare your body for optimal nutritional absorption) pills before bed. We've been taking all of these supplements in conjunction with a "clean eating" type diet: full of fresh fruits and veggies, lean proteins, some complex carbs, and minimal white flour, sugar, and processed foods.
Wednesday night dinner: Baked potato with leftover buffalo chicken, chopped salad, and leftover pineapple
Family Circle's South Pacific Steak with grilled bell peppers and pineapple, plus corn on the cobb
Skinnytaste Buffalo Chicken Lettuce Wraps and Kale Chips
I have to say that I haven't missed my coffee at all. The Spark leaves me feeling full of energy and I would be willing to say that it has helped with my concentration at the office, too. I've been sleeping better at night and naturally waking up earlier (which has been great for my morning workouts this week). As for the hubby, I know he is experiencing the same results as I described. In his case, this cleanse is the first step in the right direction in terms of starting to eat right and exercise. We have gotten moving together twice this week (a dog walk and a bike ride) and I am really proud of him for sticking with this plan and making healthy choices. He is going to sign up for Weight Watchers after the 10 days is up and I'm glad to have him on board with my attempts at living this healthy lifestyle! Oh yeah--I should mention that today is my weigh-in day and I'm down three pounds from last week!
As for me, I've been loving this cleanse so much that I have signed up for the second phase, or the "Max Phase" which, combined with the 10 Day Cleanse, makes up the Advocare 24 Day Challenge. More info on this to come!
3) On Loving Yourself. I had a moment full of self-love and pride this morning, so I wanted to share it, and I wanted to encourage all of you reading this to remember to take a minute to love yourself! I was sitting on the floor of the gym this morning, stretching after my workout (see, I told you that goal was going well!) and I looked down and found myself admiring my legs. Yep, I said it. I looked at a body part and actually admired how it looked. How often do we do that towards ourselves? I know I often find myself lusting after other women's body parts (i.e. "oh look at her legs," or "I wish my arms looked like that" or "I wish I could rock that swimsuit like her."), but very rarely do I find myself giving myself the same kind of love. But this morning, I looked down at those legs, noticed the muscle definition, and realized how strong those legs are. Those legs have carried me through a half marathon, and will soon carry me through two more. They carried me through a triathlon this summer. They've carried me through countless miles on golf courses across the country. Those legs are strong and they are beautiful.
I challenge you to think of something you love about yourself today and leave me a comment telling me what it is and why you love it! We all deserve a little self love today (and every day).
